Announcement: Wicked Directorial Team

The Holiday Actors Advisory Committee are happy to announce the team that will lead us through this summer’s production of Wicked.

Congratulations to director Toby McKenzie, vocal director Elana Agnew, choreographer Martinique McKenzie, assistant choreographer Tobin Varley and musical director Nikki Nuske on their successful application.

Toby and Martinique have an extensive on-stage history with Holiday Actors and have recently directed and choreographed a very successful season of Seussical with Camperdown Theatre Company.

Tobin also has many years of on-stage experience with Holiday Actors, and was co-director for our 2017 production of Sweet Charity.

We welcome Nikki back for her third stint as musical director for Holiday Actors, having previously worked with us on Godspell and Sweet Charity.

This will be Elana’s first time working with us as vocal director, but with 25 years teaching, stage and performance experience, we’re sure she’ll be up to the task.

We look forward to working with this team and wish them the best of luck.

Stay tuned for more announcements regarding information days and auditions.

2018 Show Announcement

Holiday Actors is proud to present our 2018 summer musical Wicked!

Wicked tells the incredible untold story of an unlikely but profound friendship between two girls who first meet as sorcery students at Shiz University: the blonde and very popular Glinda and a misunderstood green girl named Elphaba.

Following an encounter with The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, their friendship reaches a crossroads and their lives take very different paths. Glinda’s unflinching desire for popularity sees her seduced by power while Elphaba’s determination to remain true to herself, and to those around her, will have unexpected and shocking consequences for her future.

Their extraordinary adventures in Oz will ultimately see them fulfil their destinies as Glinda The Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.

We are looking for an experienced directorial team to guide our cast of talented young actors. If you think you have what it takes please get in contact with us using one of the methods below.

Holidays Actors would like to extend a warm thank you to all those who came and supported the 2017 Young Directors production of ‘Company’. We are extremely grateful to all those who helped the cast and musicians to put on a wonderful show.

Company Tickets Now On Sale

Tickets for Holiday Actor’s mid year musical, Company, are now on sale at the Lighthouse Theatre, or online http://www.lighthousetheatre.com.au/company-holiday-actors-young-directors

A ‘company’ of young directors, featuring some of Warrnambool’s most extraordinarily and talented musical theatre peeps, have come together to direct Holiday Actors third mid year musical, Stephen Sondheim and George Furth’s Company.

Holiday Actors Young Directors Gabby Good (Director), Eden Agnew and Will Bonney (Co-vocal Directors), Jack Quail (Musical Director) and Sarah Hall (Choreographer), have combined years of personal experience in musical theatre and music to bring to life a comedy that features exquisite music, scintillating lyrics and a witty and illuminating dialogue.

“Company is full of our region’s incredibly talented young people, and as first time directors, we are rivalling in all the challenges and rewards of undertaking such a diverse and complex musical,” Gabby Good, Director said.

“Holiday Actors boast a legacy of supporting and encouraging our region’s young people to use and grow -their talents, and our community based theatre company, is blown away by this team of young directors, whose ages vary from 17-19 years,” Holiday Actors President Mick Downes said.

Company deals with life’s tumultuous friendships and relationships, and finding somewhere to belong in both a touching and humorous way, making the show universally appealing. Due to mild course language and some adult themes, the show is suitable for people aged over 13 years.

The show will open on 8 June, and tickets are now on sale, and can be purchased from the Lighthouse Theatre.
